Sorry I couldn't blog the con in progress like I did last year but the hotel's computer had DA marked as a no-no site and wouldn't let me on. Granted, I snuck on a couple times through my cell phone which I'm not supposed to do because it inflates our bill too much, I had to check on .. Something... Ahem. Anyway... Maybe it's time to buy a laptop or DSI?

The con was okay this year. I mean, it was fun, but not epic like last year's. Since it was more "generally" aimed there was far less merchandise available (most vendors where comic book or memorabilia vendors)... Tate's only brought manga this year, no anime, and not that awesome Mazinkaiser I wanted last year but couldn't afford. Really, only ONE vendor brough anime, and it was a mish mash of junk I didn't need at all... You know, DBZ, Inu Yasha, and a bunch of other crap... They had ONE volume of Daiguard... But I needed the BOXSET, not one.

And sadly, the one AWESOME vendor from last year that had ALL the robot stuff anyone could EVER need was not there... Which broke my heart... And the one place that DID have robots didn't exactly have a GREAT selection of them either... :\ Obviously, I did not find any of the new Soul of Chougokin Shin Mazinger stuff... The only Mazinger ANYTHING I found at the con were a couple of coin banks (a Mazinger and Great Mazinger) and an obvious bootleg of the horrible American dub, Tranzor Z, which didn't even HAVE the right robot on the cover (they put Great on the cover)! >_< The rest was the vendors either sold comic books, super hero stuff, stuffed toys of all the popular Moe and Bishounen crap, and so on and so forth. Plus the one booth for a group of nude models that cosplays, apperantly... O_O
Anyway... First day, we arrived under rain and explored the hotel's rather large premises, including the weird three story, tourist mini-mall which looked a lot like those weird Japanese malls inside office buildings. It was twisty, clausteraphobic, and with maybe half the stores either closed or out of business which gave the vacant halls an extra spooky feel!
Day two, con begins and we start to scout out the vendors. Don't remember anything specific... Ummmm... I finally got to play Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom. Found out I'm very good at beating people up with Swan Jun by just mashing random buttons.

~
StaciNadia did a game show and won a Batman DVD and a gift certificate. And I think that's pretty much it. There weren't that many people the first day... Oh, yeah, and I also learned that the con's kareoke had didly squat that I could sing... >_< Only about 50 anime songs (the rest of the thick books were American songs) and of course, the only robot shows represented were Eva, Gurran Lagann, and Gundam SEED... >_< Eva's emo and I don't sound like Shoko Nakagawa so... Yeah... All that practicing for nothing... I should've expected this... >_<
Day three, con day two. The great amount of people finally appear. Got to see Maurice Lamarche and Rob Paulson on stage. ~
StaciNadia, of course, squealed at hearing Pinky's voice. She also tried to wear the kimono that she bought at Disney last year with various mishaps. Then she disappeared into a sowing panel where she hoped to start learning the secrets of putting together the Mia costume she wants to do and I impressed some people at Punch Out!.

Wanted to impress them at fencing on Wii Sports Resort but didn't have time. Got recognized TWICE by customers of my store... >_< Damn it... Watched the costume contest and got DECENT pictures this time! And the Smash Bros. Telethon. And got the stupid Haruhi song drilled into my head by a bunch of random little girls who came as either school girls or Vocaloids and then preceeded to line dance the Haruhi Dance on the second floor of the convention hall ALL AFTERNOON! But at least there was ONE bright spot. Someone. Came as Yoko. [FALLS OVER SWOONING] Oh, and we ran into TV's Phil Lamar! And watched him get lost in the mini mall. XD
Day four, con day three. Last day of the con, most people left quickly. The hotel was overloaded and all their elevators died forcing everyone to take to the stairs... >_< Got to dodge Yoko's big ass rifle while climbing my way back up to our room.

Not much happened this day. With lots of people bailing, all at once, a few things got cancelled. Ran into Phil Lamar again, he sat next to us at breakfast! XD Of course, at neither time did we actually attempt to engage Mr. Lamar and left him to his privacy. Got to see the first three minutes of the new season of Futurama, got John Dimaggio's signature (I would've loved to have gotten everybody, especially Maurice, but EVERYONE was charging $20 and we were low on money), and that was that. Oh, and we watched the cosplay contest which ended with ... Guess? A bunch of girls breaking out into the Haruhi Dance when the judges needed a moment... >_< Oh, and FINALLY got to see Select Start in concert! Great band, with great tunes, lots of skill, and a couple of really hot girls! XD
All in all, it wasn't bad but it could've been better. As for the cosplay, waaaaaaaaaaaay too much Bleach, Naruto and One Piece are disappearing, almost NO FF7 cosplay, only a couple people, everyone else was a from an FF that did NOT have Cloud or Aeris in it!

A large amount of Vocaloids as previously mentioned, and a LOT of Code Geass. Hell, I swear I ran into this group of girls that wore no less than THREE different Code Geass costumes in ONE DAY!
And now for the usual loot report... There wasn't much selection this year or much money for spending either... But this is what I managed to get:
*Intron Depot 1 - Masamune Shirow's lovely artwork!
*SD Gundam Two Pack: God Gundam and Master Gundam - From Bandai's old American Gundam line
*Roy Fokker's VF-1S Transformable Valkyrie
*Revoltech Shin Getter 3 - To match the Shin Getter 1 I got at EPCOT.
*Super Robot Spirits 2000 - Said concert on DVD!

*Crayon Shin-Chan, Volume 1 - Yes, Shin is as bad in the manga as he is on TV! XD
*Battle Angel Alita: Rusty Angel - Been missing this volume forever.
*Cannon God Exaxxion, Volume 1 - Keichi Sonoda of Gunsmith Cats fame, takes on the Super Robot Genre!

*Appleseed, Volume 2 - Only flipped through it but seems to contain the plot of the original OAV.
Photos will be forth coming.
